Public Policy: The agency
advocates for appropriate quality services for individuals affected
by alcoholism and drug addiction as well as prevention services,
especially for high-risk populations.
Public Information: The agency
publishes a bi-monthly news journal, Perspectives: A Journal on
Addiction Research and Public Policy, which keeps its 10,000 readers
current on addiction public policy issues. The agency also uses
this web site to publish news and information. We interface with
media to promote a positive message regarding addiction and to promote
messages that address stigma. We also publish fact sheets and policy
analyses for the same purpose.
Friends of Addiction Recovery-New
Jersey: NCADD-New Jersey is spearheading a project to organize
the recovering community and its friends and supporters in New Jersey
to provide a constituent voice in public policy, to reduce stigma,
and to honor and to celebrate the positive experience of recovery.
Welfare-to-Work Care Coordination:
NCADD-NJ advocates on a personal level for the most appropriate
and adequate treatment for individuals within the welfare-to-work
program, Work First New Jersey, through its Substance Abuse Initiative
(SAI) program and Substance Abuse Research Demonstration (SARD)
project. In both programs, individuals in the welfare system are
assessed on an ongoing basis to determine the proper level of care,
and treatment is approved and monitored by professional Master’s
level counselors.
