Recovery- New Jersey
Friends is a grassroots recovery
community organization comprised of individuals in recovery from addictive illnesses,
and their families, significant others, and friends.
FRIENDS VISION
To make the positive aspects of recovery visible to the public, to support
and sustain the recovering community, and to overcome the stigma that affects
all addicted individuals.
FRIENDS MISSION:
Friends of Addiction Recovery-New Jersey (Friends) seeks to overcome the stigma
of addiction, and to honor, support, celebrate and promote the positive experience
of recovery. We are committed to providing opportunities for recovering individuals,
their families, friends and allies to empower themselves as agents and voices
for service and change.
We accomplish this through:
• Annual Rally for Recovery
• Recovery Support Services
• Learning Circles
• Recovery Promotion
• Public Awareness
• Education
• Advocacy
OUR PURPOSE:
Our effort is aimed at reducing stigma associated with the illnesses of alcoholism
and drug dependence, providing recovery support service, and advocating for
alcohol and drug dependent individuals, those in recovery from addiction,
and their families.
COUNTY CHAPTERS:
The county chapters of Friends seek to rally and empower the recovery community
and those that care about recovery in each county to have a voice, end stigma,
and celebrate recovery; and join in statewide initiatives
to create solid addiction policy.
PUTTING A FACE ON RECOVERY:
Recovery community organizations have sprung up in 35 states across the country.
Friends is working to organize the recovery community in this state so that
people in recovery, their family members, and other allies can come together
to support and promote addiction treatment and recovery. See who is on our steering
committee.
RALLY FOR

LAUNCHES ATTORNEY TOOLKIT: REPRESENTING THE CLIENT WITH A SUBSTANCE
USE DISORDER
There is a lack of understanding by the public and by many lawyers and
judges about addiction, treatment, and recovery. Lawyers are in a
unique position to help clients overcome their addiction. The best
resolution to an attorney's case may hinge on identifying addiction as
the underlying problem, assisting the client in obtaining treatment, and
educating judges about addiction, treatment, and recovery. This primer
is intended to provide the necessary background and facts that can be used
in all legal contexts. View Online
