Poll shows New Jersey with broad bi-partisan support for including addiction treatment in health ref
TRENTON … (September 23, 2009) – The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence-New Jersey (NCADD-NJ) today released the results of a local poll that shows broad support for increasing access to alcohol and drug addiction treatment.
Legislative district offices to be inundated with postcards
TRENTON … (June 10, 2009) – Thousands of postcards, many with personal appeals and signed by residents throughout New Jersey, will be hand-delivered to legislative district offices throughout New Jersey today as part of an effort to generate more revenue dedicated to treatment of addiction. The postcards, which are to be presented at the district offices by teams organized by National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence-New Jersey (NCADD-NJ), describe the cost in lives and dollars of untreated addiction and call for a five-cent-a-gallon increase in the beer tax to fund treatment.
NCADD-New Jersey launches campaign to press for addiction treatment
TRENTON … (May 13, 2009) – The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence-New Jersey (NCADD-NJ) today held a press conference at the Statehouse to launch an advocacy and media campaign aimed at Closing the Addiction Treatment Gap. A key component of the launch is a proposed increase in the state’s tax on beer to raise $7.5 million for treatment services. NCADD-NJ also released a report outlining the state’s treatment gap and the $3 billion in savings New Jersey would see if it met the treatment needs of residents.
NCADD-NJ launches Class of 2009 Advocacy Leadership Program
TRENTON … (March 25, 2009) – The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence-New Jersey (NCADD-NJ) is now accepting for applications for its 2009 Advocacy Leadership Program. The agency’s Advocacy Leadership Program, which is in its second year, is designed to foster, support and promote a generation of leaders in New Jersey committed to closing the state’s addiction treatment gap, to ending the stigmatization of addiction by promoting recovery, to ending discrimination experienced by persons in recovery, and to preventing addiction.
Open Society Institute Awards $750,000 to NCADD-New Jersey To Expand Treatment for Drug and Alcohol
Baltimore ... (November 24, 2008) - The Open Society Institute today announced a $750,000 grant to the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence-New Jersey (NCADD-NJ) to expand access to high-quality treatment for drug and alcohol addiction for individuals who need it.
Rally for Recovery to build bridge of recovery
