NCADD-NJ develops and
distributes an array of materials to promote an understanding of addiction
as a public health problem. The education effort focuses
on both policy-makers and the public to advance policies that support addiction
recovery, treatment and prevention.
The agency’s Policy Papers take an
in-depth look at issues such as youth alcohol use and the human and economic
benefits of providing addiction treatment to more people. NCADD-NJ provides
research, compares and contrasts related issues in other states and offers
detailed solutions. NCADD-NJ has developed several media campaigns,
which incorporate video and print PSA’s created in-house. There are
presently three campaigns; Sobering Facts, focusing on youth alcohol use,
Recovery Happens, which illustrates how thousands of lives have been restored
from addiction and are now in long-term recovery and Addiction Treatment:
Is it there when you need it?
Other vehicles for education are the agency’s print and digital publications.
Perspectives, the agency’s journal on addiction research and public policy,
has a readership of over 11,000 and is published bimonthly.
The “What’s New” section,
as the name suggests, provides information on the most current policy and
advocacy developments. In this section readers are also invited to contribute
to the dialogue on addiction issues by contributing to our blog.
