NCADD-New Jersey, FOAR-NJ head state Recovery Voices Count effort
TRENTON … (April 17, 2008) – New Jersey is among 10 states chosen to take part in an addiction recovery advocacy effort known as Recovery Voices Count. The initiative will build an addictions recovery constituency in each of the participating states through voter registration and education and a get-out-the-vote initiative, drawing in part from people in recovery and their families and friends.
NCADD-New Jersey calls for keg registration at state level
TRENTON … (January 8, 2008) – The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence-New Jersey (NCADD-NJ) today issued a call for state lawmakers to pass a statewide keg registration law to reduce youth use of alcohol and to curb the many traffic fatalities that result from youth drinking.

TRENTON … (December 10, 2007) – The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence-New Jersey today called for the Assembly to pass legislation (A-2512/S-807) that would give the public the same treatment coverage for mental health and addiction that New Jersey’s state workers already have.

ROBBINSVILLE … (December 9, 2007) – Parent-to-Parent, a South Jersey based organization which assists parents with addicted children statewide, will hold a rally at Speaker Joseph Robert’s Brooklawn Legislative District office Monday, December 10th at 1:00 pm to call for a General Assembly vote on A-2512 / S-807 which eliminates discriminatory insurance practices parents and many other New Jerseyans face when they seek mental health and addiction treatment for their children, family members, or themselves.

TRENTON … (October 15, 2007) – The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence-New Jersey has released Decision 2007, comprising the agency’s 2007 Election Guide and its Candidate Survey on state addiction and prevention issues. The Election Guide provides information on issues surrounding addiction and prevention as well as general information on the upcoming election for the New Jersey Senate and Assembly.

NCADD-NJ looks to federal parity forum to advance issue within the state
TRENTON … (February 26, 2007) – The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence-New Jersey (NCADD-NJ) applauds today’s health insurance parity forum in Trenton, conducted by Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.) and Rep. Jim Ramstad (R-Minn.) as part of their national campaign to win support for their bill to require proper treatment for addiction or mental illness. The forum is expected to lend some impetus to the New Jersey addiction and mental health parity legislation (S-807/A-2512) on which NCADD-NJ has worked with state policy-makers and other advocates.
