Mission: NCADD-New Jersey
works in partnership with and on behalf of individuals, families,
and communities affected by alcoholism and drug dependence to promote
recovery through excellence in prevention and treatment initiatives.
Vision: To
be the center of excellence in New Jersey addressing alcoholism
and drug dependence and to serve as the premier advocacy organization
for individuals, families, and communities affected by these chronic
diseases; To maintain a reputation for expertise and the pursuit
of excellence in public policy and education, care coordination,
and recovery leadership, as well as through the advancement of
progressive treatment approaches that are outcome- and evidence-based.
Through the organization’s leadership,
evidence-based alcoholism and drug dependence treatment will
be integrated into a continuum of care that is responsive to
the needs affected individuals. Furthermore, laws and public
policies will be established and enforced that promote recovery,
eliminate discrimination, and remove systemic barriers that impede
ready access to treatment.
Value
Statement: We
believe in order to achieve the organization’s
mission we must foster and promote coordination of services and
collaboration with organizations that span health and human services.
We also believe that our advocacy, service, and business relationships
must be grounded in mutual respect, responsibility, and accountability.
We believe alcoholism and drug dependence are public health concerns
that are preventable and treatable, and that recovery can and does
happen. Our responsibility is to the individuals, families and
communities affected by these chronic diseases. As such, they must
be engaged and empowered to help determine the course of services
provided. Our work must consistently bear the hallmarks of quality
and accountability, and embrace sound public policy and evidenced-based
practices.
We believe every person has a right to be free from alcoholism
and drug dependence and that access to prevention, treatment and
recovery services should be readily available to all who seek it
regardless of race, color, sex, national origin, age, religion,
disability, economic status or sexual orientation. We also believe
individuals in recovery from alcoholism and drug dependence should
be free from discrimination in housing, employment, and insurance
coverage, as well as other aspects of daily life and that the federal
and state civil rights and protections afforded them should be
fully enforced.
Our employees are the most valued assets of our corporation and
hold a shared responsibility to fulfill our mission. We believe
that the quality, motivation, and performance of our employees
are the key factors in achieving success. Accordingly, we are dedicated
to assisting every employee in realizing his or her full potential.
We are committed to diversity, equal opportunity and fair treatment,
and strive for an organizational structure and culture that promotes
employee involvement, open communication, teamwork and cooperation.
Public Policy: The agency
advocates for appropriate quality services for individuals affected
by alcoholism and drug addiction as well as prevention services,
especially for high-risk populations.
Public Information: The agency
publishes a bi-monthly news journal, Perspectives: A Journal on
Addiction Research and Public Policy, which keeps its 10,000 readers
current on addiction public policy issues. The agency also uses
this web site to publish news and information. We interface with
media to promote a positive message regarding addiction and to promote
messages that address stigma. We also publish fact sheets and policy
analyses for the same purpose. <<read

Friends of Addiction Recovery-New
Jersey: NCADD-New Jersey is spearheading a project to organize
the recovering community and its friends and supporters in New Jersey
to provide a constituent voice in public policy, to reduce stigma,
and to honor and to celebrate the positive experience of recovery.
Welfare-to-Work Care Coordination:
NCADD-NJ advocates on a personal level for the most appropriate
and adequate treatment for individuals within the welfare-to-work
program, Work First New Jersey, through its Substance Abuse Initiative
(SAI) program and Substance Abuse Research Demonstration (SARD)
project. In both programs, individuals in the welfare system are
assessed on an ongoing basis to determine the proper level of care,
and treatment is approved and monitored by professional Master’s
level counselors.
