Reducing
Stigma
Few among you consider alcoholism a proper subject for open discussion,
few among you would willingly label yourself, or a friend or colleague,
an alcoholic, and even fewer would be able to recognize alcoholism
early, when there is the best chance for recovery. more reducing stigma>

RECOVERY DELEGATE –YOU CAN LEAD A RECOVERY
DELEGATION
SELECT A RECOVERY DELEGATE TO LEAD A DELEGATION TO REPRESENT YOUR:
1. NJ MUNICIPALITY
2. NJ / NYC ADDICTION TREATMENT PROVIDER
3. NJ / NYC COMMUNITY GROUP
• Identify a Recovery Delegate to lead a recovery
delegation from one of the three above categories and join the Rally for Recovery
festivities. Each delegate will participate in the opening ceremony at the
Rally.
• Have the Recovery Delegation participate in the “Battle
of the Banners” at the Rally for Recovery, where there
will be three contests: one between NJ municipalities, another between NJ/NYC
addiction treatment providers and a third general group contest to create banners
that capture this year’s Recovery
Month theme. All banners will be judged and each winner will be
awarded $500.00 to assist it in combating alcohol and drug addiction.
FOR MUNICIPALITIES
• Adopt a local Recovery Month Proclamation. Local
governing bodies throughout New Jersey have been asked to issue
a Recovery Month proclamation honoring Addiction Recovery Month
and the Recovery Delegate’s participation as well as
the participation of those in the delegation.
Your municipality’s participation will help to ensure that the entire state
is represented at the state’s Rally for Recovery. Your delegate and the
delegation they lead will represent the fact and the hope of recovery in your
community.
With so many families in New Jersey – one in three – facing
the trials of a loved one with an addiction, it is important to
celebrate the many who can and do recover. Friends, NCADD-NJ
and their partners look forward to your municipality’s, treatment
facility's, or community group’s participation at this year’s
Rally for Recovery.
