Reducing
Stigma
Few among you consider alcoholism a proper subject for open discussion,
few among you would willingly label yourself, or a friend or colleague,
an alcoholic, and even fewer would be able to recognize alcoholism
early, when there is the best chance for recovery. more reducing stigma>

FOAR-NJ celebrates Recovery Month by hosting an annual Recovery Rally, which
this year is scheduled for September 15, 2007, at Liberty State Park. This
year’s celebration is especially exciting as we are partnering with many
national organizations like Faces and Voices of Recovery and the National Council
on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence as well as counterparts from New York City
to make September 15th a national hub event to celebrate addiction recovery
and bring focus to similar celebratory events being held across the country. We’re
also excited that this year’s rally will build support to end discrimination,
especially in health insurance coverage, experienced by individuals in recovery
from addiction.
Registration begins at 12 noon with the ceremony beginning at 2pm followed
by the rally. The
rally is one of over 200 events taking place across the nation to
celebrate Addiction Recovery Month and is the premier recovery celebration
in the metropolitan area. This year’s Recovery Month theme is, “Join
the Voices of Recovery: Saving Lives, Saving Dollars.” Get
