After 'bath salts' ban, N.J. officials look to stop other designer drugs

Two months ago, with the use of a methamphetamine-style drug sold legally in smoke shops and gas stations surging throughout New Jersey, state officials used an emergency order to ban the powders, known as bath salts. State hospitals have reported a decrease in bath salts abuse since April, according to poison officials, but other synthetic narcotics remain prevalent in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, causing some to wonder if the battle with so-called designer drugs is just beginning, a Newark Star-Ledger story reported.
